John joined the Circle in 1980 when he first arrived in Winchester from Scotland . His business career was almost entirely spent in the IT industry, retiring in 2004.

John is married to Frances and they have four sons and a daughter.

The president's chosen charity is Emmaus Hampshire, a charity offering homeless men and women a home, work and the chance to rebuild their self-respect in a supportive community environment http://www.emmaus.org.uk/
